Inggris - Melakukan tes swab mandiri masih menjadi kontroversi di masyarakat umum. Namun berikut bahayanya jika melakukan swab mandiri tanpa bantuan tenaga ahli.

Seorang pria melakukan tes swab COVID-19 sendiri di fasilitas pengujian di West Ealing, London, Inggris, Selasa (2/2/2021) waktu setempat.

Diketahui rapid test antigen atau swab tes tidak boleh dilakukan secara mandiri atau dilakukan bukan oleh ahlinya. Menurut Epidemiolog dari Universitas Griffith, Australia, Dicky Budiman, jika hal itu dilakukan maka akan berpotensi munculnya false positive atau false negative.

Dilansir dari pemberitaan Kompas.com, (2/2/2021), dokter spesialis telinga, hidung, dan tenggorokan (THT), DR dr Sarwastuti Hendradewi, SpTHT-KL(K) mengatakan, ada beberapa risiko kesehatan yang bisa terjadi jika swab tidak dilakukan oleh tenaga profesional.

Dr Sarwastuti mengatakan swab nasofaring dilakukan melalui lubang hidung. Dalam hidung terdapat banyak pembuluh darah dan lapisan kulit dalam (mukosa) yang tipis. Karena itu, orang awam yang tidak memahami struktur anatomi hidung dan tidak mengetahui bagian yang harus diambil tidak diperkenankan untuk melakukan swab mandiri.

Aspek keamanan adalah syarat penting dalam melakukan swab test COVID-19 guna mencegah berbagai risiko berbahaya. Salah satunya pengunaan APD saat mengambil tes terbukti efektif mencegah penularan virus Corona.

Selain itu, terdapat risiko iritasi dan pendarahan juga dapat terjadi jika tangkai swab mengenai pembuluh darah, apalagi di hidung banyak sekali pembuluh darah yang mudah pecah.

Bisa juga malah menyebabkan alat swabnya menyangkut atau patah saat proses pengambilan sampel, karena orang tersebut terlalu keras mencolok atau tidak hati-hati.

Dilansir dari Klikdokter.com, (2/2/2021), menurut Menurut dr. Devia Irine Putri, kejadian alat swab menyangkut saat pengambilan tes memang jarang ditemukan. Namun, kemungkinan untuk terjadi tetap ada, apalagi jika swab test dilakukan sembarangan.
