Filipina - Filipina berambisius memvaksinasi penduduknya di tengah ancaman varian Omicron. Ribuan pasukan keamanan dan sukarelawan dikerahkan untuk program vaksinasi.

Presiden Filipina Rodrigo Duterte mengatakan varian Omicron menjadi dorongan terbesar negara itu mempercepat vaksinasi.

Otoritas setempat mengaku khawatir Omicron bisa membuat Filipina diambang gelombang kasus COVID-19 lagi seperti varian Delta lalu.

Omicron, yang oleh Organisasi Kesehatan Dunia (WHO) digambarkan sebagai "variant of concern", belum terdeteksi di Filipina. Namun antisipasi harus selalu dilakukan.
