Thailand Mulai Geber Vaksinasi Massal

Thailand - Thailand memulai vaksinasi massal menggunakan vaksin AstraZeneca yang diproduksi lokal. Pemerintah menargetkan vaksinasi 70% penduduk negara itu tahun ini.

Thailand mulai meluncurkan program vaksinasi massal yang telah lama dinanti-nantikan warganya.

Pemerintah Thailand akan mengelola 6 juta dosis AstraZeneca buatan lokal dan vaksin Sinovac impor, dengan harapan dapat meredakan kekhawatiran tentang peluncuran vaksinasi yang lambat dan kekurangan pasokan.

Pemerintah juga telah mengumumkan rencana untuk mengakuisisi vaksin Pfizer dan Johnson & Johnson untuk mendukung programnya.

Pemerintah Thailand berencana akan memvaksin 70 persen dari populasi Thailand yang berjumlah lebih dari 66 juta orang pada akhir tahun.

Sejauh ini sebanyak 2,8 juta orang  yang dianggap paling rentan, termasuk pekerja kesehatan dan transportasi garis depan, telah menerima dosis pertama vaksin COVID-19.

Thailand sempat berhasil mengendalikan virus corona ketika negara lain bergulat dengan pandemi terburuk tahun lalu.

Akan tetapi kini Thailand dihadapkan pada lonjakan kasus COVID-19. Gelombang ketiga telah menyumbang lebih dari 80 persen kasus dari total infeksi sejauh ini.
